Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong

We will work very hard to ensure we crack down on the exploitation of workers under the Pacific Labour Scheme.

Australia’s Foreign Minister, Penny Wong stated this when questioned by a journalist on what is being done following reports that workers are not being paid their full salaries.

Wong says they are a Labour Government which has a very strong ethical and philosophical commitment to ensure workers are not exploited.

More than 3,000 Fijians are working in Australia under the Pacific Labour Scheme after the Australian Government opened its doors for seasonal workers in 2015.
