Minister for Health Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete says they want to be sure that all the strategies put in place by the Permanent Secretary for Health and the COVID response team are adhered to before the Fiji 15s players can return to Fiji.

29 players have contracted COVID-19 in France.

Waqainabete told Legend FM News that they have been in constant discussions with Fiji Rugby Union.

He says the team doctor is in contact with his colleagues in Fiji and they are setting together processes that needs to be followed as Fiji is a COVID-19 contained country and we want to maintain that.

When questioned when the players are expected to return, Waqainabete says discussions are still ongoing.

He says we all have witnessed the lockdown and restrictions that were put in place and believes we should not go through that again.

Waqainabete says our hearts goes out to the players but they understand why this is done.

He adds protection of all Fijians is a top priority.

Waqainabete says they are fit young men and their chances of getting over this is high.
