In order to build resilience in the education sector, we need to provide students with the learning they are most familiar with and one which is ICT enabled learning.

This has been highlighted by the Minister for Education, Premila Kumar while speaking to more than 700 heads of primary schools during the 2022 Fiji Head Teachers Association Conference. at Sofitel Denarau.

She says unlike the other sectors, the education sector has not seen any significant transformation globally. and the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the world to talk about transformation of education and this is the right time to do this.

She says as school heads, they have an important role in motivating teachers to embrace the new technology and incorporate them effectively into their lessons so young learners are motivated to learn via this new mode of learning.

The Minister also stresses heads of schools must ensure teachers are facilitators whose role is to make students responsible for their learning and also help students to develop high order skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and involve them more in inquiry-based learning.
