Fiji Rugby Union CEO, John O’Connor says after seeing how significant the Fun Flavor Fiji Rugby Super Sevens Series was towards our Fiji Airways Fijian and Fijiana 7s teams preparations last year, and considering the uncertainties in the HSBC 7s Series, they have decided to have five legs this year.

O’Connor says they have seriously considered the impact of there being no crowds, on their ability to successfully host the series to international standards since we have always heavily relied on gate takings to meet the operational costs and to make hosting such tournaments sustainable.

He adds they have decided to proceed with the series to assist the 7s teams prepare towards the Commonwealth Games and the World Cup.

The Super 7s Series kicks off with the women’s competition tomorrow with Marist taking on Lautoka at 9am at Lawaqa Park.

The men’s competition will start on Friday with Tabadamu facing Wadigi Salvo at 9am.

The men’s cup quarterfinal will start at 10.20am Saturday, the semifinal will be at 1.10pm Saturday and the final will be at 5.30pm Saturday.

You can catch the live commentaries of the quarterfinals, semifinals and final on our sister station, Viti FM.
