SODELPA Leader Viliame Gavoka

SODELPA Leader Viliame Gavoka says they cherish the relationship with the people of Australia and as a party whose mainstay is the indigenous people of Fiji, they acknowledge and applaud the huge steps being taken by the Australian Government for the benefit of the indigenous Australians.

In his message for Australian Day, Gavoka says many of our people now call Australia home strengthening the links that have withstood the test of time.

He says remittances from Australia from our people and the direct aid from the people of Australia have made it possible for Fiji to overcome the ravages of COVID-19.

Gavoka says Fiji continues to benefit in sports, education and recently, the Australia-Fiji Labour Mobility Scheme.

He says the Australian Government has facilitated the export of commodities such as Kava into the Australian market, which will greatly benefit many of farmers and grassroots people back in villages and communities.
