We are under no illusion about how we have to play against the Blues this week, and we will have to physically take on the battle of what they offer in terms of their squad.
This was the reply from Swire Shipping Fijian Drua coach Glen Jackson when asked by fijivillage Sports about how they are planning to counter the Blues’ physicality and structured play.
Jackson says he thinks the Reds showed them a blueprint last weekend of how to play against the Blues, as they have certainly played a lot more rugby than the Blues so far this season.
He says, however, the Blues have got a great threat over the ball, and they have Dalton Papali’i, who is one of the best players in that area, and the Drua will need to look out for him.
He also highlighted that Beauden Barrett will also be offering a lot around the counter-attacking area and how he wants to play the ball.
The Drua will host the Blues for the first time at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva at 7.05pm Friday in round 13 of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific.
In other matches this week, the Waratahs will play the Reds at 9.35pm Friday, the Crusaders will take on the Chiefs at 7.05pm Saturday, and the Force will host the Brumbies at 9.35pm Saturday.
