The Ba Town Council is targeting to open Govind Park early next year.

Minister for Local Government, Premila Kumar told parliament this morning that the 9,000 seating capacity pavilion structure has been completed.

She says some work remains to be completed in phase two which includes the transformer, floodlights, ground upgrade, drainage work and ticket booths.

Kumar says the pandemic had a huge impact on the project.

She also reveals the contractor also needs to fix some defects picked up by the project manager and construction implementation unit in the first phase.

Kumar says the government has invested approximately $4.9 million towards the project from 2016 to 2020.
