Minister for Local Government, Premila Kumar says they are looking to build a commercial facility at the old Raiwaqa Market site which can have supermarkets, a barber shop, a Small and Micro Enterprise Market and a dental or medical centre.
Kumar says the reason why they want to build a commercial facility at the site is because the area does not have many supermarkets.
She says this will also help solve the problem of traffic congestion near Damodar City.
However, Kumar says at the same time they are developing the informal Raiwaqa Market into a two storey market.
She confirms that the construction works will start in January next year.
The old Raiwaqa Market was closed in 2014.
