Drug-Free World Fiji Founder Kalesi Volatabu

We need to change and everything needs to happen now and not five or 10 years down the line as we are at a crisis in the country because of the demand for drugs from overseas.

This has been highlighted by Drug-Free World Fiji Founder Kalesi Volatabu while speaking on fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan.

Volatabu says they know that everything moves really slow in this country but how many lives do we need to lose before Fiji pulls its pants up and says enough is enough.

She says they need the help and the health, school, judicial and the social welfare systems need to be fixed.

She says we need to reach out to who the markets for drugs are which are Australia, New Zealand and America but Fiji is being targeted now.

Volatabu further says she started getting threatening phone calls from random local people in August, 2019 but she got a call in February from the Mexican cartel and she knew then how bad the problem was in Fiji.

She says it confirmed every question that she had, especially as everybody was saying that cocaine is trafficked through Fiji to other countries.

The founder says she took the matter up to the police and the military.

Volatabu says the demand for cocaine in Australia is huge and they have got gang wars, across the State and last week, there were 5 killings because of cocaine.

She says there are underground threats in Fiji and what Drug-Free World Fiji is doing is a huge threat to them.
