‘As government, we always look forward to objective assessment, objective contributions and indeed objective criticism’.

This was stated by the Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while delivering his keynote address at the Fiji Institute of Accountants 50th Anniversary Celebration.

Sayed-Khaiyum says he has never found the Fiji Institute of Accountants provide an objective assessment of the budget adding they get individual accounting firms or partners in firms making comments.

Sayed-Khaiyum further says unfortunately in Fiji people’s sense of how they can contribute and when they can contribute, and who should they criticise depends on personal relationships or things like ethnicity, who they know or who their clients are as opposed to making objective assessments as a professional.

He adds the same thing they say about lawyers in the country.
