EU Ambassador to the Pacific Sujiro Seam

Fijians can watch European movies for free this weekend during the European Film Festival at Damodar Cinema in Suva and Lautoka and also get to know the European Union better through art and culture.

While speaking at the premier of the second edition of the Festival, EU Ambassador to the Pacific Sujiro Seam says they are going to show 8 movies representing 11 different countries.

Seam says the Festival is to allow people to discover the diversity of the European cinema and want to pass messages which need to be debated such as people with disability and LGBTIQ issues.

He says they want people not only to enjoy the movie but also think about the messages these movies pass.

Seam says they will show a movie about people with disability today and LGBTIQ issues tomorrow.

The Ambassador says because there is still a war raging in Ukraine, they have also selected a movie from Ukraine.

Seam is encouraging people to come to Damodar City in Suva or Lautoka to enjoy the second edition of the Festival.

He adds they intend to recreate this event every year and possibly expend and hopes they can show European films in other countries in the Pacific as well.
