Waste is not the issue, the issue is the people and how they are treating the environment.

This was the message from the Director of Waste Recyclers Fiji and Founder of Pacific Recycling Foundation Amitesh Deo during the Environment Day celebration at Nausori Town.

He says people need to be more aware of how their actions as well as the individual actions of industries and those stakeholders are continuing to contribute to the slow demise of our plant.

Deo adds the Campaign for World Environment Day and World Oceans Day will take place at their office at Koronivia this Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Special Administrator of Nausori and Nasinu Town Council, Uma Kant Patel says it is up to us as individuals, communities and nations to seize the opportunities and forge a path towards a greener and more sustainable world.

He says we move the rubbish, we move the litter, we move the plastics, they don't have legs.

Commissioner Central Division Josefa Navuku says these days, people should reflect on their actions, as well as our collective efforts in trying to address the crisis that is currently upon the environment.
