Waste crisis in focus as PRF readies Vaka forum rollout

Waste crisis in focus as PRF readies Vaka forum rollout

As the Pacific Recycling Foundation prepares to launch its groundbreaking Vaka Forum Series later this year, they have taken the first crucial step by aligning their internal teams, ensuring that the organisation is unified in vision, messaging, and purpose before engaging with national and regional partners.

In collaboration with Waste Recyclers Fiji Limited, PRF Founder Amitesh Deo says he has spent the past few weeks bringing together all departments, including Finance and Administration, Corporate Relations, Advocacy, Operations, Transportation, and Workshop, to foster a shared understanding of the waste management crisis and each team member's role in responding to it.

Deo says the upcoming Vaka Forum Series, which stands for Voices, Alliances, Knowledge, and Action, will be rolled out across various sectors and industries.

He says the aim is to facilitate inclusive dialogue and drive co-created, practical solutions to Fiji’s growing waste management issues while advancing circular development models.

Deo says two forums — one with tourism stakeholders, and one with municipal councils — which will both be held in November and December, have already been confirmed.

He says a third forum involving Members of Parliament and Permanent Secretaries is expected in early 2026, with discussions underway for future engagements with international partners, ambassadors, high commissioners, universities, civil society organisations, and religious bodies.
