The lack of fluent English speaking skills among Year 12 students at Wainimakutu Secondary School in Namosi did not stop them from achieving a 100 percent pass rate in last year’s external examination.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Industrial Arts teacher Eremasi Niudamu says the students and teachers worked together to improve the students’ proficiency in English.

Niudamu says while it has been a challenge, they are committed to helping students build their confidence in speaking in the English language.

He also highlighted that the teachers were conducting morning classes and two-night classes for Year 12 students to ensure they fully understand the material being taught.

Niudamu adds it is the collective effort of students, parents, and teachers which contributed to the school achieving a 100 percent pass rate for two consecutive years.

He adds their goal for this year is to maintain the same level of success.
