A family of four escaped death this morning after a landslide occurred beside their home in Wailoku.

The homeowner, Gary Victor, says they were awakened at around 4am by the landslide, which occurred beside his daughter’s room.

Victor says they are still sheltering at home as the landslide has blocked their path.

He adds the family is still in shock but he is trying to keep it together so they can go through this time of dismay.

He also highlighted that some areas around Wailoku are still flooded and he hopes assistance can be provided to those that are affected.

He adds this morning, some houses and vehicles were affected by floodwaters.

Meanwhile, Nabukaluka Delailasakau Road in Naitasiri is not accessible to traffic due to a side slip.

A landslide has also occurred in Sawani.
