Vodafone to allow e-ticket card balance transfers for replacements

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka

There is good news for passengers travelling by bus, as Vodafone has been instructed to enable transfers for legitimate card replacements, provided that proper documentation is submitted.

While informing Parliament about ongoing issues with the e-ticketing system, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says that when the upgraded system was first launched, money could not be transferred from one e-ticket card to another.

He says the original plan was to have a simpler system where cards did not need to be registered, similar to those used in other countries, however, problems were encountered with this approach.

Rabuka says that, to address the issue, the Steering Committee has instructed Vodafone to allow transfers for legitimate card replacements.

He says this measure ensures that passengers do not lose their stored value in cases such as card loss or theft.
