Vodafone Fiji will officially go live on 5G on Monday, following the issuance of the 5G commercial license to all telecommunications operators.

They say for Vodafone Fiji customers, 5G will revolutionize how Fijian’s experience connectivity, provide faster internet speeds, lower latency, and support a massive number of connected devices, which will enhance entertainment, communication, productivity, and lifestyle applications.

Vodafone Fiji says whether customers are streaming high-definition content, enjoying seamless online gaming, or interacting with smart home devices, 5G will deliver a superior user experience.

They say for businesses, 5G will provide significant benefits through improved connectivity, faster data transfer speeds, and lower latency, enable innovative solutions, optimize processes, and enhance productivity.

The service provider says from high-quality video conferencing to swift file transfers, 5G will transform business operations.

They say more than just faster internet, 5G will unlock new possibilities, transform industries, and improve lives.

Vodafone Fiji says as part of its licensing obligation, they are committed to a phased rollout of its 5G network.

The planned rollout is scheduled from 2025 to 2028.

They say Phase One of the rollouts, commencing this year, will cover the town and city boundaries of Suva, Nadi, Lautoka, and Denarau.

Vodafone Fiji says these locations represent Fiji’s main economic corridors, ports, and medical centres, ensuring that from the outset, our commercial hubs, tourism centres, and emergency services gain access to 5G services and begin to experience its benefits.

Phase Two, beginning in 2026, will extend 5G coverage to other town centres such as Nasinu, Lami, Labasa, and Savusavu.

They say this phase is designed to support balanced growth between Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

From 2027 into 2028, Phase Three and Four of the rollout will iteratively expand 5G services to the remaining townships of Nausori, Sigatoka, Navua, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, Korovou and Taveuni strengthening nationwide coverage and ensuring that more regional centres are brought into Fiji’s 5G journey.

They say in addition, Vodafone Fiji will also undertake investments into modernizing its existing 2G/3G only infrastructure to support 4G services which will improve overall network experience nationwide, ensuring a reliable connectivity service for greater digital inclusion for the people.

They also confirm that 5G services will be available on a wide range of mobile broadband devices and they are also working closely with key global smartphone manufacturers like Apple and Samsung to ensure the desired 5G software updates are provided in the very near future in order for 5G services to be available for use by customers on 5G capable smartphones by these manufacturers.

Vodafone Fiji adds they are dedicated to bringing the full potential of 5G to Fiji and is excited for the future.
