Fiji-born Helen Cerecere who hails from Vitogo, in Ba Province, has risen to the rank of Captain in the British Army.

Family and friends gathered in England to celebrate her achievements.

Captain Cerecere's journey is a story of courage, perseverance, and triumph rising from Private to Captain when she joined the Army 20 years ago.

Cerecere is the daughter of former South Pacific Games Sprinter the late Penasio Cerecere.

Cerecere shares maternal links to Namuka in Lau and the Kados in Fiji.

Her mother, Ruby Kado says Helen has been an inspiration to the family and she is a natural leader.

She attended Ratu Kadavulevu School and the grooming she had from there built her to where she is today, together with her supportive family from Fiji and around the world that continue to send her congratulatory messages on her achievement.

Cerecere is the third eldest of six siblings and says she hopes other Fijians who are in the Army and Navy will have similar success if they are dedicated and have passion for the work they do.

She says service is the ultimate rule and urges all Fijians wanting to join the Army to never give up on their dreams and continue to work hard.
