Vision Motors today launched its first electric vehicle imported from Indonesia.

Vision Motors Operations Manager Jagdish Chand says electric vehicle will assist Fiji's mission to reduce carbon emissions, reduce the country's dependence on fossil fuels and importation of fuel.

He says this will also benefit the owners financially as there will be no cost of replacing air, oil, fuel filters, oil change, and fuel costs.

Meanwhile, Vision Motors Branch Manager Sachin Maharaj says the electric cars are designed for urban and peri-urban driving areas with easy parking.

He says the batteries for the electric vehicle can easily be charged at public charging stations or using a normal regular Phoenix charger with a 300-kilometer driving range on a single charge at a top speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

He says they have 20 electric vehicles cars in stock and 20 more have been ordered.
