Villagers of Namoli in Lautoka have raised concerns where sewer lines that run through their village have burst again and have been overflowing for months due to a blockage.

Turaga Ni Koro Manoa Vero says the sewer lines have burst all the time over the years.

Vero says they are concerned about their health because this has been an ongoing issue for the past years and nothing has been done.

He says they have raised concerns with the Water Authority of Fiji in Lautoka and believe that their concerns have been raised to officials who think their work in the office is more important than the lives of the people they serve.

Vero says the bad smell from the sewer has been particularly disturbing them.

He says during heavy rain, the two sewers always overflow and everything is spilt in the village, leaving families to clear the waste or live with it.

The villagers are pleading with the Minister for Works and the Water Authority of Fiji to assist them and make plans to resolve the issue.

fijivillage News has sent questions to the Minister for Works Ro Filipe Tuisawau and WAF. They are yet to respond.
