With a decision yet to be made on whether the Fiji 7s team will play in the Vancouver 7s or not, Fiji Rugby Union CEO John O’Connor says it will be very difficult to go to the tournament without any preparation.

O’Connor says if they cannot train, then they cannot play.

He says they are still in discussions with World Rugby with regards to the challenges they are facing due to the COVID-19 related restrictions in the country.

O’Connor also says they have asked the team to take a 6 weeks break.

He adds they will be making an announcement next week.

Meanwhile World Rugby has already confirmed that there would not be any penalties for any team that is unable to attend a 7s series event due to COVID-19 associated travel or logistical issues.

They will provide a global update on the Vancouver and Edmonton events in due course.

The Vancouver 7s will be played from the 18th of next month followed by the Edmonton 7s.
