Verevou’s much awaited return may be put on hold

Suva soccer team’s top midfielder, Iosefo Verevou’s much awaited return this weekend may be put on hold as he is facing issues with his left knee which is swollen.

The Suva Soccer Management was hopeful of utilising Verevou in the midfield after resting him for seven months as he was carrying a knee injury.

Suva had major issues in its midfield area in the 3-1 loss to Ba last weekend.

Another top midfielder, Patrick Taroga is a full-time tertiary student and is highly likely to miss Suva’s opening match against Labasa.

This now leaves Suva with Ravinesh Karan Singh, Sahil Dave, Nickel Chand and Kelvin Naidu to generate play from the midfield as Madhvan Goundar is best suited as an attacking centre-back.

Suva last won the BOG in 1995. They last won a tournament in 2014.

The Punjas BOG tournament kicks off this Friday at Churchill Park and you can catch the live commentaries of the Labasa-Suva match at 2pm, Ba-Nasinu clash at 4pm and Rewa-Lautoka game at 6.30pm on Radio Sargam.
