Jonalese Vatubua, who was part of the Mixed 200-metre Freestyle Relay team that won gold in Palau, has dedicated her achievement to her late grandfather, who passed away recently, and says she feels honoured to carry the family name with such an accomplishment.
Vatubua adds that, although it was her first time in Palau, it reminded her more of Fiji and how the Palau people have served the athletes with great care and a smile.
Vatubau says she needs to work more on her training with upcoming competitions and deliver a better performance than the Pacific Mini Games 2025.
Swimmers are now looking forward to the World Aquatic Championship which starts o on the 27th of this month in Singapore.
