Facing behavioural and academic challenges earlier in the year did not deter Year 13 student Vaseva Apikali from achieving over 300 marks in her annual exams as she was awarded the Principal's Award during the Assemblies of God High School prize-giving ceremony held at the FNU Campus in Nasinu today.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Apikali revealed the challenges she faced, including living in a home without electricity.

The 19-year-old explained that this required her to wake up early to study at school before 6am, and spend additional hours in the afternoon studying.

She says she believes that through God’s guidance, she was able to achieve her goals successfully. Her achievement serves as an inspiration to her peers and the school community.

Head of School Emosi Kuli shared that Apikali faced behavioural and academic challenges earlier in the year, which led to an agreement between the school, her parents, and herself to improve.

Kuli says through her exceptional dedication, Apikali significantly improved her behaviour, excelled academically, with 300 marks in her simulation exams, and she also earned several subject prizes.

Meanwhile, 72 Year 13 students were recognized for their achievements during the ceremony today.
