Good news for students in Vanuabalavu as the Vanuabalavu Festival Committee has collected $115,405 for the development and refurbishment of Adi Maopa Secondary School and Wainiqelei Circuit School.

The festival continues today at the FMF Gymnasium Car Park which has been attended by more than 400 people.

Vanuabalavu Festival Chairman, Dr. Sefanaia Matai Nagera says every year villagers raise funds for the school during this festival but this year, they had planned to collect funds for the two schools for the next five years.

He says $5,000 is the target for small villages, and $10,000 to $15,000 is the target for big villages.

The chairman says those who attended came all the way from the USA, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

He further says there will be entertainment such as traditional meke, storytelling even dancing to hype up the festival.

There are two districts on the island of Vanuabalavu which are Lomaloma and Mualevu and the island has 17 villages.

Today is the last day of the Vanuabalavu Festival.
