Vancouver 7s: Fiji to meet Samoa in the cup semis after beating France 24-21

The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team has progressed into the cup semi-finals after beating France 24-21 in their quarter final at the Vancouver 7s.

Fiji scored three first half tries to go into the break with a 19-7 lead.

Captain Tevita Daugunu, Waisea Nacuqu and Vuiviawa Naduvalo were in fantastic attacking form to get tries for Fiji in the first half.

France turned the tables in the second half scoring two tries to lead 21-19.

With a minute of play remaining in the game, Kaminieli Rasaku and Nacuqu muscled their way towards the try-line where Jerry Tuwai found himself in space after receiving a wide pass and crashed over to seal the win for Fiji.

In the second cup quarter-final, Samoa caused an upset after beating defending champions South Africa 28-17.

In other cup quarter finals, Argentina thrashed England 40-17 while Australia came from behind to beat New Zealand 19-12.

In the semi-finals, Fiji will play Samoa at 9.44am while Argentina will face Australia at 10.06am today.

The final will be played at 12.58pm today.
