Vancouver 7s: Fiji defeats Canada 22-12 in second pool match

The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side has won their second pool match at the HSBC SVNS Vancouver 7s after defeating Canada 22-12 this afternoon.

Canada started strong with a converted try to Max Stewart to give them an early 7-point lead, but Fiji managed to break through Canada’s defence to level the points through Ponipate Loganimasi.

Canada showed determination, and they went over the try line again from Thomas Isherwood, however, Fiji replied from a try to Jeremaia Matana to level the points at 12-all at the break.

Matana scored his second try in the second half, while Terio Tamani sealed Fiji’s victory with a try in the final dying seconds.

Meanwhile, Fiji beat Spain 31-14 in their first pool match.

They will take on Argentina at 10.33am tomorrow in their final pool match.

The men’s cup quarter finals will kick off at 2.22pm tomorrow, the cup semi finals will kick off at 8.43am Monday and the cup final will be at 1.23pm Monday.
