It was a proud and emotional moment for Valavia Tasala of Seaqaqa Central College as she dedicated her Dux Award to her late mother, who passed away last year.

In an interview with fijivillage, Tasala shared that after her mother’s passing, her aunt and father stepped in to care for her and supported her educational journey.

The Year 13 student says she often sacrificed her sleep by studying late into the night, to achieve academic excellence and build a brighter future for her family.

Tasala further says she wants to become a Geospatial analyst and wishes to purse her tertiary education at the University of the South Pacific.

She has also acknowledged her teachers, family and friends for their continuous support and motivation.
