Vakarisi's wife files submission to withdraw domestic violence case

Jone Vakarisi who allegedly assaulted his wife between 29th May and 5th June has told the Suva High Court this morning that his wife has filed a submission to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to withdraw the domestic violence case.

Vakarisi said in court that the domestic matter between him and his beautiful wife has been resolved.

He says that his wife's sister who is overseas forced his wife to file a complaint and a lawyer took advantage of her vulnerability.

Vakarisi also told the court that he will seek Legal Aid assistance.

The DPP lawyer has told Judge, Justice Aruna Aluthge that they have received the submission from the wife.

The lawyer has also applied for an interim Domestic Violence Restraining Order as this is a case of domestic violence.

Vakarisi is charged with three counts of assault causing actual bodily harm and a count each of causing grievous harm, breach of his suspended sentence and breach of bail conditions.

He remains in custody.

The case has been adjourned to the 6th of July.
