Minister for Employment Parveen Bala says COVID-19 vaccination will become mandatory for travel across international borders and it is likely that this will include travel for work which is already the case for the Pacific Mobility Labour Scheme.

He says they have committed to roll out vaccinations with due regard to the rights of all Fijians and at the same time based on sound science and medical advice.

Bala says full vaccination for all Fijians is the scientific and medically proven way towards reopening our villages, towns, cities, workplaces and ultimately our borders so that everyone can exercise their freedom in a new normal.

He adds the current lockdowns and containment areas will not be necessary once all Fijians are vaccinated.

Bala says the Ministry continues to work with all stakeholders to ensure we strive towards a collective work environment that is COVID safe and a Fiji that is fully vaccinated against this terrible disease.
