Party Leader Savenaca Narube

Unity Fiji has written an open letter to Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama suggesting that he sacks Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and has offered to advise the Prime Minister directly on economic and financial matters.

Party Leader Savenaca Narube claims that there is nothing in the 2022-2023 National Budget to address the deep-rooted fundamental problems that Fiji faces.

Narube says without even a year of economic growth, Sayed-Khaiyum has already created another boom adding that there was absolutely no attempt on fiscal consolidation.

He further says that Sayed-Khaiyum has made no attempt to rationalise expenditure.

Narube says the Minister for Economy was finally doing something to moderate the cost of living adding that as this is an election year they expected the budget would be full of sweeteners.

We have sent questions to the Prime Minister and are awaiting his response.
