Customs officers at the Nadi International Airport successfully intercepted undeclared ammunition from a passenger arriving on a flight from Los Angeles.

The interception followed targeted risk assessments and specific indicators identified by frontline officers.

The passenger and the baggage were promptly referred to the Border Police for further investigation.

Fiji Revenue and Customs Service Chief Executive Officer, Udit Singh praised the vigilance and swift action of the customs officers involved in the interception.

Singh says this successful operation highlights their officers' dedication to protecting the borders and preventing the entry of prohibited or undeclared items.

He says they take all border security threats seriously and will continue to enhance their risk assessment and targeting measures.

The FRCS CEO is urging all passengers to comply with customs regulations, as failing to declare restricted or prohibited items can result in serious consequences.

He says the FRCS is dedicated to safeguarding Fiji's borders and ensuring adherence to all customs and security regulations.

Singh adds they encourage all travellers to comply with customs declaration requirements and remind the public that strict penalties are enforced for non-compliance.
