USP Student Administrative Services damaged in a fire last night

The USP Communications Building at the Laucala Campus was extensively damaged in a fire last night.

The fire spread to all three levels of the building which includes some offices for Pacific TAFE, the Centre for Flexible Learning and especially Student Administrative Services which deals with students admission, registration, student data and record management, examinations and associated support services in scholarship management.

It is not clear at this stage at which level of the building the fire started.

Firefighters from the Suva Fire Station received a call about the fire at around 11.30 last night and responded immediately.

The University of the South Pacific has not made any comments at this stage.

The National Fire Authority has started their initial investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
