The USA Women's Rugby Sevens team received a $4 million sponsorship from Michele Kang to enhance resources for their players and coaching staff and set the stage for a strong performance at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Kang is the owner of several women's soccer clubs, including the Washington Spirit and Olympique Lyonnais Féminin.

Through her initiative, Kynisca Sports International will provide this generous support over four years to the USA Women's Rugby Sevens team.

The USA Women’s Rugby 7s team recently made history by securing a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, the first Olympic medal for US rugby sevens.

Kang emphasised the growing popularity and record-breaking attention for women’s sports in 2024, underscoring the team's potential to inspire future generations.

The donation is seen as a pivotal step in realizing the team's gold medal aspirations for 2028.

USA Rugby CEO Bill Goren expressed profound gratitude, highlighting the transformative impact of Kang's contribution, which will help elevate the program and solidify the United States' position on the global stage.

This initiative, backed by a $50 million philanthropic contribution, focuses on advancing female athletes' health and performance, fostering a high-performance culture in women’s sports.
