Two officers suspended after cocaine goes missing from Namaka Police Station

Acting Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu.

Two police officers have been suspended pending the outcome of an investigation into the missing cocaine at the Namaka Police Station.

Acting Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu has directed a separate inquiry into the internal systems and processes with regards to the handling of the missing exhibit which will be headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police.

Tudravu says if investigations reveal failure on the part of supervisors, those identified will also be suspended.

Following the disappearance of the cocaine, two men who were charged with one count each of attempted unlawful exportation of illicit drugs were acquitted of their charges as the DPP had to file a discontinuance in court.

It was alleged that former Fiji Airways Flight Attendant  Fredrick Epeli and Justin Ho on 23rd December 2018, without lawful authority, attempted to export 2015.7 grams of cocaine to Sydney, Australia.
