Two men charged with the murder of a 86-year-old retired businessman from Nagigi in Savusavu on the 27th of last month, will appear in the Labasa Magistrates Court today.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Mesake Waqa says the two men aged 27 years and 29 years are alleged to have forcefully entered the home of the businessman, where they assaulted the victim, causing injuries, and stole assorted items.

They were initially charged with aggravated robbery and remanded at the Labasa Correctional Facility.

Earlier this week, the Labasa High Court released the suspects into police custody for further questioning about the man’s death.

Meanwhile concerned Savusavu resident, Pettine Simpson had posted asking if it is possible for the police to either confirm or deny the information regarding the Terry Gray robbery and murder case: that one of the two perpetrators had a prior home invasion at the victims' residence, served jail time for it, and was subsequently released, potentially leading to a revenge motive.

Police did not comment on this.
