Two men have been charged with the alleged unlawful possession of methamphetamine following their arrest at the Delainaveai checkpoint in Suva on the Saturday night.
Police say the first accused, a resident of Sawani, was allegedly found in possession of white crystals that tested positive for methamphetamine.
They add that the second accused, a 39-year-old Tacirua resident, was arrested under similar circumstances.
Both men will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today.
Police say that in a separate operation, officers in the Northern Division raided farms in Tacilevu yesterday, seizing over 1,000 plants believed to be marijuana.
One farm owner has been arrested and taken into custody.
They highlight that a separate search of three individuals in the area also led to the discovery of a bag containing dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.
The suspects, aged 49, 47, and 20, have also been taken into custody.
Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe emphasized that operations are targeting both methamphetamine and marijuana, and urged the public to report drug-related activities via Crime Stoppers on 919.
