Two men who allegedly lied about 3 masked men attempting to kill them have been charged with giving false information to public servant and will appear in the Sigatoka Magistrate Court today.
Police say that last Friday at around midday, an 18-year-old man of Kulukulu, Sigatoka reported that a 26-year-old man of the same settlement has been killed by three men.
They say upon arrival at the scene, Police saw that the 26-year-old self-employed man was alive with visible injuries on his back and neck.
Police say he was taken to hospital for examination.
They say the 18-year-old waiter of Kulukulu had informed Police Officers that the three masked men had also tried to kill him.
Police say the report was believed to be suspicious and after further questioning, he admitted that the report that he lodged was false.
They say the 18-year-old waiter admitted that they had conspired to make a false report.
The 26-year-old man was discharged from Sigatoka Hospital on Monday evening and was arrested for questioning.
