Two men lost their lives in two separate road fatalities this morning.

Police say the first incident was an alleged hit and run case that was reported at the Ba Police Station.

They say a call was received at the Ba Police Station following the discovery of the victim's body, lying on the road at the Rarawai Flat along Koronubu Road after 3 this morning.

The victim was conveyed to the Ba Aspen Hospital, where medical officials confirmed his death.

They say the search continues for the driver, and traffic officers are also working on identifying the victim, who is an iTaukei male believed to be in his 40s.

If anyone has information regarding the accident or could assist with identifying the victim, please call the Western Division Command Centre on 9905 457.

Police say in the second accident, a man in his 20s died following a road accident along Lodoni Road in Korovou this morning.

They say the victim is alleged to have lost control of the vehicle he was driving as it approached Nananu Village, causing it to veer off the road.

They further say with the assistance of officers from the National Fire Authority, the victim was rushed to the Korovou Hospital where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.

Investigations continue for both cases.

The national road death toll currently stands at 22 compared to 21 for the same period last year.
