The Turaga Na Tui Wailevu in Bua has supported Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama’s statement that any Turaga Ni Koro or Mata Ni Tikina not fully vaccinated will be removed from his position and won't be paid any allowances.

Ratu Sikeli Kasala says he respects the Prime Minister's comments as it is an important role to play and those people are serving the people and the vanua as a whole.

He says Health Ministry officials and the Turaga Roko have already visited all villages in the District of Wailevu in Bua, raising awareness regarding COVID-19 and the vaccine.

The Tui Wailevu says he has also been creating awareness whenever he gets the chance in every grog session or village meeting. He says he talks to villagers about getting vaccinated as it is the only way that can bring back some normalcy.

He adds many rumours and stories were heard around the Bua Province regarding the side effects of the vaccine, and he thinks this is what swayed the villagers from getting the vaccine.

Ratu Sikeli encourages every eligible Fijian to get fully vaccinated.
