U.S. President Donald Trump says there would be “no extensions” granted to the new August 1 deadline he set for U.S. trading partners to negotiate new deals or face significantly higher tariffs on goods imported from their countries.

Trump had imposed a 32 percent tariff on goods being exported from Fiji but an extension was granted to all countries being affected until today.

In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote that as per letters sent to various countries yesterday, in addition to letters that will be sent today, tomorrow, and for the next short period of time, tariffs will start being paid on August 1st, 2025.

He says there has been no change to this date, and there will be no change.

Trump says in other words, all money will be due and payable starting August 1st and no extensions will be granted.

However, in remarks to reporters later, Trump clarified, they can do things over the years, too and they are not hard-line.
