Team Fiji Taekwondo representative to the Paris Olympics 2024 Venice Traill says last year was supposed to have been her final year competing for Fiji, but she is grateful that her managers and coaches encouraged her to try for one more year.

She says she was part of the Fiji contingent to its first ever Oceania Qualifiers in the Solomon Islands in April, where she was able to secure her place for the Olympics.

Traill says it was very overwhelming finding out she had qualified and feels blessed and happy.

She says the support from her family, friends, workmates and church family has been amazing.

The 26-year-old says her training now is different from her other regional events.

The Fiji Taekwando delegation is an all women squad made up of Traill, Lolohea Naitasi and Paralympic athlete Irene Mar.

The team left our shores yesterday and will stop over for two competitions in Korea and a training camp before heading on to Paris.

The Taekwando competition at the Paris Olympics are scheduled for August 7-13.
