As thousands of tourism workers remain unemployed, on Leave Without Pay or on reduced hours for about 16 months, Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association CEO, Fantasha Lockington says the workers should be aware of the developments as the operators are aiming to gradually get the staff back with the expected reopening of borders from December this year.

Lockington says the bulk of the industry is expected to be ready but the staff will be progressively utilised based on occupancy rates.

She says every interested worker should be fully vaccinated, ready and also ensure that their phone contacts are known to their employer.
