The new touch screen voting machine

The Fijian Elections Office has successfully conducted the first day of the Trade Union Elections of the Fiji Nursing Association with the use of the recently acquired Touch Screen Voting Machines.

The Fiji Nursing Association is the first union to utilize the machines.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says in terms of the analysis of the usage, the voting machines were simple to use.

Saneem says whilst the Fijian Elections Office has noted that it will have to implement a more rigorous awareness and training exercise on the usage of the machine, the overall feedback from the voters was that it was easy and convenient.

He adds that they will continue to use the Electronic Voting Machines for the trade union elections in order to expose more Fijians to more advanced means of voting and counting in Fiji.

The 2018 General Elections will not have any usage of Electronic Voting Machines.

The Fiji Nursing Association elections concluded yesterday.
