The Ministry for Forestry has planted a total of 192,969 trees as part of the “30 Million Trees in 15 Years” initiative.

While speaking to villagers of Vitogo and Naviyago during his western division tour, Minister for Forestry Osea Naiqamu says the Ministry is optimistic that they will achieve its target of 2 million trees this year.

Naiqamu says they have been receiving positive feedback from villages where they have held their awareness programmes at and most land owners have shown their interest in this initiative.

He also highlighted the high demand of sandalwood trees where he has assured people that they can cater for the high demand as stakeholders have assured the Ministry their support towards their “30 Million Trees in 15 Years” initiative.

Naiqamu also encouraged villagers to join the initiative and plant more trees as it would not only benefit them but their future generation as well.
