The Uto ni Yalo Trust has shared their frustration over the theft of essential tools from their container at the National Sailing Centre, which are vital to their canoe-building project.

The Trust says these tools were integral to their broader mission of supporting communities through the revival of traditional sailing and canoe-building knowledge.

They also highlighted that the stolen items included a router, jigsaw, grinder, orbital sander and drill.

The Trust adds the theft has directly disrupted the progress of their current work at the National Sailing Centre.

They say this incident comes only weeks after the outboard motor for their tender was stolen.

They add this will not stop their work and that they will find ways to resolve the issue.

Police say the complaint has been reported for police information only and requested no further investigation.
