A prominent TikToker is in police custody for allegedly bullying other people on the platform.

Police say the TikToker, who goes by the name Nazmeen on the platform was allegedly misusing or was being irresponsible by creating hatred, using vulgar and degrading language and was bullying on the virtual platform.

They say the woman recently came to Fiji from Australia.

Meanwhile, the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission says they have received 9 complaints against a group of TikTokers including a former Fijian citizen for allegedly bullying and harassing women and children on Tiktok.

They say they are working closely with the Cyber Crime Unit to bring the perpetrators to face the full brunt of the law.

The Commission say complaints range from TikTokers posting material on TikTok with the intention to hurt a woman’s modesty, exposing children on social media platforms and for breach of privacy rights.

In one case, a local TikToker is alleged to have taken pictures of a child while this particular child was waiting with her parents inside a police station to file a complaint and then exposed the child on Tiktok.

In another case, a woman was allegedly asked by a TikToker to use her 8 year old child as a sex worker.
