Three pools of death for Marist 7s

There are three pools of death in the 44th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s which organisers are describing as the pools of Olympic opportunity.

They are all filled with strong teams who due to the tough competition could lose out and not get a qualifying place for the next round.

Chairman of the Marist 7s Organising Committee Lawrence Tikaram says the teams included in the pools of death are Police White, Tuvakarau Army, Jussi Bunivai Rugby and Wardens Green in Pool 1, Tabadamu, Wadigi Salvo, Waimanu Green and Army Green are in Pool 7 and FDS Barbarians Brothers, Police Blue, Z&S BBQ Yamacia and Naviavia Gladiators Vanualevu in Pool 10.

These teams are all filled with some of the best 7s players in the country at the moment and many of them have represented the national side throughout the years.

There are 12 pools in the men's category, 3 pools for the Under 21 and 2 pools for the women's category.

The tournament kicks-off tomorrow with the Under 21 competition where Marist will face Ratu Filise at 8am.

The women's competition also starts tomorrow with CKs Ezybuy Marist facing Army at 9.50am.

The pool games for the men's competition starts on Friday and it will end with round one of elimination.

The main cup elimination and finals are on Saturday.
