2022/2023 World 7s Series leaders, South Africa have added three players to their squad that assembled in Cape Town.

Christie Grobbelaar and Darren Adonis, who both played in the opening tournament of the 2022/23 series in Hong Kong, are back in the group, while Jaiden Baron also finds himself with the Blitzboks squad for the first time.

Grobbelaar has played nine times and Adonis eight times for the Blitzboks and both were in action in Dubai last weekend, in the colours of the Samurai team that played in the International Invitational tournament.

Baron, a former Boland Kavaliers scrumhalf, also played and did enough to convince Ngcobo and his management to pull him in.

Both Adonis and Baron will provide cover for Dewald Human, who limped off the field in Dubai.

The Blitzboks medical team are awaiting the results of a scan to decide on whether Human will be available.

South Africa is pooled with Canada, Fiji and France in the Cape Town 7s this weekend.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side will begin their Cape Town 7s campaign against France at 5.35am Saturday.

Their second match is against South Africa at 9.19pm Saturday and their final pool match is against Canada at 2.38am Sunday.

The cup quarter finals will start at 5.37am Sunday, the cup semi finals will begin at 1.24am Monday while the final will start at 5.56am Monday.
