Thousands of people in Nakasi can now enjoy new $60,000 volleyball court

Thousands of people in Nakasi now have access to a proper $60,000 facility as the new Volleyball Court was opened today.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister for Youth and Sports Parveen Bala says he is thankful to the Chinese Embassy in supporting their request as this will bring much peace of mind to all Fijians in Nakasi with the provision of such a top-class facility.

He says the new sports facility will have a great positive impact on the community of Nakasi as it will promote health and wellbeing of the community and also identify some talents in the community that will represent Fiji in sports.

Bala has also highlighted that since health and hygiene is critical all stakeholders and the public must play their roles in making sure that all Fijians return to recreational activity and sports but with strict Ministry of Health guidelines.

Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Qian Bo says the opening of the new facility is a clear demonstration of China's support for Fijian and youth development.

He says this year also marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the countries.

Bo has also confirmed that several millions of dollars worth of assistance has been provided to Fiji since the COVID-19 pandemic began and a new batch of personal protective equipment is on it's way to Fiji.
